Ramadan & Shawwal Announcements 2023/1444

We are pleased to announce, based on the Fiqh Council announcement, the dates of Ramadan and the two Eids for the year 2023/1444 AH. The dates are expected to be as follows, Insha’Allah.

Ramadan & Shawwal 2023/1444
First Taraweeh: Wednesday, March 22nd
First Day of Fasting: Thursday, March 23rd
Eid-al-Fitr: Friday, April 21st

“O you who believe, fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may (learn) self-restraint.”
Qur’an 2:183

Ramadan 1444 AH:
The Astronomical New Moon will be on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 17:23 Universal Time. On that day, there is no place on earth where at sunset the elongation is 8 degrees and the moon is 5 degrees above the sun. Hence, the first day of Ramadan will be on Thursday, March 23, 2023, Insha’Allah.

Eidul-Fitr 1444 AH:
The Astronomical New Moon will be on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 4:12 Universal Time. On April 20, the elongation is more than 8 degrees and the moon is more than 5 degrees above the sun everywhere in North America. Hence the first day of Shawwal will be on Friday, April 21, 2023, Insha’Allah.

Expected date for Eid- al-Adha 1444 AH:
Based on Saudi Ummul-Qura Calendar is Wednesday, June 28, 2023

In regards to these blessed occasions, we are reminded to keep in mind that there are allowances for valid scholarly difference of opinion in determining the beginning and end of the auspicious Month of Ramadan. Mutual respect and humility are pillars of the requirement for unity as we collectively strive to please our Creator in all aspects of our lives.We encourage every organization and individual to follow that which is most unifying for the community, including consultation with religious leadership.

May Allah keep us on the straight path, facilitate us to have a blessed and joyous Ramadan, and accept our devotional acts solely for His sake, Ameen.

In sha Allah Eid pitch-in dinner will be held at the Masjid GibraeI (San
Gabriel, CA) on Saturday, October 19, 2013 6:00 PM Sharp**.*

Please bring main entrée that would be enough to feed your family and
two-three more people. If you wish to bring bread/drink/dessert on the
side, it would be greatly appreciated. Please make sure all meat items are
Zabiha Halal. *
*Some ideas for what dish to bring may include:

**Rice, Meat Curry, Chicken Curry, Vegetables, Salad, Pasta, Soup **and
Bread/Rolls, Pizza, and Sandwiches. *
*Please indicate the dish you will be bringing when you email or **call so
we can make sure there is enough food for everyone. *
*Make sure to have only Zabiah Halal meat.*
*Insha Allah we will see you all on October 19th, 2013.*


The Eid prayer on 15th at 8.00 a.m. takbir at 7.30 a.m.

Masjid Gibrael is pleased to announce that Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on Tuesday, the 15th of October, a day after the Wuquf of Arafah. Eid al Adha commemorates the sacred timings and places of Hajj such as the city of Makkah, Mina, Muzdalifah and Arafat and in solidarity with millions of Hujjaj.

Masjid Gibrael, extends its most warm wishes to the Muslims performing Hajj and prays for their safe return. We also pray for the unity and peace in the communities and encourage everyone to avail this season of sacrifice by fasting on the day of Arafat the 14th of October and remain active in any and all undertakings that promote, justice, compassion and peace for all people.

Eid Prayer

Members and staff of Masjid Gibrael, CA, Sunday Weekend School, Cemetery Committee, Elderly Care Center Committee and Food Pantry would like to invite all Muslim and Muslimah to join us for Solatul Eid on Aug 8 (Thusrday) at Masjid Gibrael, CA

Based on the method adopted by the Fiqh Council of North America to start an Islamic month, EidulFitr will be celebrated on Aug 8, 2013, inshaAllah

Salatul Eid for Masjid Gibrael will be held at the Masjid.
Schedule for 1st day of Shawwal (Aug 8, Thursday)

Salatul Eid ————————– 8 :00 AM

Refreshment ———————– 9:00 AM

Zakatul Fitr is due before the salat. It is $10 per person at Masjid Gibrael.
Sadaqat al-Fitr is a duty which is wajib (required) of every Muslim, whether male or female, minor or adult as long as he/she has the means to do so.
According to Islamic tradition (Sunnah), Ibn ‘Umar said that Muhammad made Zakat al-Fitr compulsory on every slave, freeman, male, female, young and old among the Muslims; one Saa` of dried dates or one Saa` of barley. [Sahih Bukhari – Arabic/English, vol. 2, p. 339, no. 579]. The head of the household may pay the required amount for the other members.

This includes the baby who are not born yet. Need to paid before Eid Prayer.


RAMADAN & SHAWWAL 1434 (2013)

The First day of Ramadan will be on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 and Eid al-Fitr on Thursday, August 8, 2013, insha’Allah

Ramadan will begin at sundown on Monday, Traweeh will Start on July 8, 2013.

Isha Prayer will be at 9:30 PM

Join us on the 30th as Dr. Choksy and Dr. Kaissi discuss critical family issues, such as common mental conditions, including depression, and the importance of early detection and spiritual healing.

There will be a potluck dinner after Maghrib. Please bring a dish.

 

 

Irem Choksy: Irem is a mental health clinician by profession, and has experience working with the National Alliance of Mental Illnesses (NAMI) on reducing stigma associated with mental health in faith communities.

 

Dr. Taif Kaissi: Dr. Kaissi is the Clinical research coordinator at Inland Neurological Consultants Inc. He is the co-founder of the Medical Network Devoted to Service (MiNDS), a network of health industry that are devoted to serving the uninsured in the community.
